How doy you set the timing on a 1990 bay liner capri w/ force l drive 120 horse

l bought a 1990 bay liner Capri with a 120 horse force l drive inboard the person l bought it from put in a new timing trigger and now l does not wanna in the top end any suggestion? on how the fix. also looking for a trim motor and three lower hoses on motor.

This ''power-head'' is the same as the 120 h.p. outboard (Force). The timing mark is on the edge of the flywheel, & an indicator bolted to the top of the block. The throttle linkage is attached to the throttle cable. Disconnect this cable. Move the throttle linkage by hand. You will notice that there is a linkage at the top that connects with the timing plate. A cam moves the carburetor linkage. The timing plate has a short bar that has a plastic clip on each end. The timing is adjusted by screwing the plastic clips in or out. Use a timing light to establish the minimum & maximum with the engine running. If the advance is to low u lengthen the link bar.
