My b/f & l own a Yamaha 1999 boat.It is got an outboard 250 Hp engine. We're trying to save $$ and do our own maintenance this year but are not sure where purchase a new thermostat besides dealerships? We'd just like to find something reliable and fairly cheap!

Yamaha engine parts ,,like all boat parts ,,,,,are pricey,,,,,. Unlike car parts where you can sometimes find undependable cheap aftermarket knockoffs,,,,outboard engines are the domain of the dealers and parts dealers. Want to save money???? Sell the boat.

l would have to disagree with the previous response, do not sell ur boat! Yamaha can be harder to find parts for outside dealers. There is an website that actually specializes in aftermarket thermostats called: thermostatshack.com
You may want to check out their site, if u know the specs of ur boat u can look & see if they carry the specific thermostat u need.
Hope that helped. Enjoy the rest of ur summer, with ur boat!! :) Cam
