My Block Cracked and need new one. In the Boise Idaho area.
Its about 4 inches long. Poor boat it only has a few hours on it. But we will try that before we buy a new one. Might as well cant hurt it anymore than it already is. Thanks a bunch!

How bad is the block cracked ? there is a newer process called powder welding for cast iron it is supposed to work very well.

Do not waste your time or money on trying to repair. Unless you have the block X-rayed, you can not tell if it has internal cracks. Buy a remanufactured longblock, available from Mercury and other rebuilders. Look for marine rebuilders in your area, try the yellow pages, or talk to a marina, and see who they use. Rebuilding is not a ''shade tree'' project.

There are many engine rebuilders around> You might have to pay a core charge as your block is non rebuildable> Use a marine engine as there are some differences in engines & gaskets> Make calls>see who has the best price> If you can not do the parts replacement have a marine repair person get you a price>
