It is a sad-looking site to see a once proud cruise ship/ferry lying apparently abandoned and rusting away on the Dee Estuary.
Does anyone have some recent news on what fate is likely to hold for her?

l live about 6 miles from the Funship in Mostyn & when it first arrived in 1979,it was greeted with much anticipation . l remember visiting the ship & inspecting the bridge & engine room. l know the owners at the time had a long running battle with Flintshire County Council when they wanted to convert it to a 300 room hotel.There were problems regarding the roads & access.
Now it is owned by Solitaire Liverpool Ltd a clothing company.Despite many rumours of the ship being scrapped,the Company have no plans to sell or restore it, & it is current use is uncertain.
It seems such a shame that a once beautiful ship is now a blight on the horizon.

Its an eye-sore, thats for sure.

l run wifey up to Abakan is and every time l see that ship l think ''oh, l forgot the cruise missle again''

It would be broken up if it was on more developed land. Unfortunately, its likey to stay there until the council issue some sort of safety order on the owners.
