Pools are not often a bank repo' selling at 40% off. Boats are. Wait awhile and banks will sell repo' toys even cheaper. You might as well wait in a pool.

The pool, boat is an acranim for 'Break Out Another Thousand' the pool in the long term will be cheaper. Also if there is a fire or natural disaster you can use the water.

Boats r more versatile & provide more varied fun than a pool can. You can sail or go fishing & if it has a cabin, u can use it for accommodation. You can learn a lot from having a boat - sailing skills, navigation, marine engines, tram leadership, crisis management, planning. You can also lose ur boat.
Pools r fun at home & can add to the value of ur home. Everyone can learn to swim in a decent pool. A small pool is useless for anything other than splashing about & cooling off.
Pools & boats r good places for a party. Both pools & boats need maintenance. Both carry a risk of drowning.
Personally l would prefer to own my own boat & to use a public pool or swim in the sea/lake/river.

If you want to swim every day/week, get a pool. If you want to go for a swimm in different locations evfery few weeks/months, get a boat. Sadly, pools, just loke boats, do not always get used as much as was thought when purchased. Want a compromis, get a yacht, stuff the cockpit drains and fill up the cockpit water then you ahve a pool on a boat. Break out the Margarita's!

I've been a boater for over 40 years, and have lived on one for several years. l had a pool in the backyard in Florida. Ever notice how little it gets used. l am not saying most boats get used a lot more, but if you plan on using it, l can tell you it is very relaxing, and the view is spectacular.

know people with boats.know people with a pool.know people who have both.guess the choice lies with what you think will get the most use and be most enjoyed.
my vote though since you came to our forum of course would be to have you get a boat!

You can not sell a pool if it is in ground. l say boat. We have 2 boats and a pool and l definatly use the boat more it is a lot more fun. You can learn to ski, wke board, knee board and much more. The pool does not need insurance though and might be cheaper too. but they have about the same amount of work.

I'd get a large trailerable sailboat, like a MacGregor or the new Hunter 27' Edge, but with a much smaller engine. Most pools do not really get used all that much & u will probably spend about the same amount of money for both. You can not take a pool with u when u move, a boat u can. A trailetrable allows u to take it anywhere, launch it & enjoy a variety of water areas. It can also be used for overnight camping while traveling to ur new lake or resorvoir or ocean spot. You wo not have slip fees & repairs can be done at home. Usually u will have to have repairmen fix ur pool & keep it maintained. If u enjoy the outdoors, especially on the water, the trailerables can often go right up on the beach..(i.e. West Wight Potter is 15' & 19'). I've been sailing for over 20 years & even just enjoy sitting in the covered cockpit, sipping a drink & watching the ducks & other waterfowl enjoy themselves, also. Just my opinion. it really depends on what u plan to do. A motor boat will cost quite a bit what with the gas being as high as it is.. On my sailboat, I've still got 4.5 gallons of the 5 gallons l had at the beginning of the year. l only use the engine to get out of & into the slip. Thanks sloopy
