l have a 1978 kawi js440. okay well lgot my jet ski to run without puttin gas in the intake and it runs with out the choke on. l did this by messin with the high speed and low speed screw on the carb. but itis still going about half the speed it should....please helpppp

You need an owners manual or a boat shop to show you how to adjust it properly.

do not know ur engine in particular, but described below is a generic carbed motor slow speed adjustment procedure.

but before u do that ---- have u taken this carb apart & soaked it overnight in carb cleaner? if not, you're just wasting ur time.

Slow speed mixture screw adjustment:
screw it in until it seats, then back it out 1 & 1/4 turns. start the engine & use the throttle to set the RPM is where it will just stay running.

1/8 turn at a time, start turning the screw in. give the engine a couple seconds to respond. RPM is will increase; each time, adjust the throttle to where it will just stay running.

Eventually u will reach a point where it gets worse, not better when u screw it in, it might even spit back a little. Somewhere in the last 1/4 turn, u will find the smoothest running. Should not have to change it again after that, until ur next carb rebuild.

Like l said in my last answer, 5/8 ths turn out on the low needle, 3/4 ths out on the high speed. Check the adjustment of the ''float arm'' inside the carb.

First thing to do is check your compression, with a gauge.
