My steering is stuck and was wondering how l could get it to work again? l unhooked it from the motor which it was just connected by a bolt and no arm. It is a 72 evinrude 50hp. In the front where the wheel hooks up there is a round tube and from what l have found out it is a rotorary steering system. Basically it is stuck and was wondering if there is anything l can do before l go get a new one? At the back where it connects to the motor there is a shaft and what l think is to be a hydralic that works similar like on pickup toppers (the window) and that is stuck to. appreciate your time

This is a common problem. You cable is frozen. You have to replace it.

l am not sure about yours but usually there is a grease fitting on it. Fill your grease gun with Marvel Mystery Oil and pump it full. Let it sit for a day and try again. This just might work if it does not get a new cable. It is worth a try.

You will need to replace it,because even if you do get it to work,it will happen again.You can buy a whole new system now for about $200.00 If you do this l suggest you buy the no
feed back system.They are great.If you are driving and let go of the steering wheel it will not try and spin on it is own. l have installed many of these systems and everyone loves them.It's
your choice but l recommend this one.Good luck.

Buy a new steering cable. Take the old one with you, they are tricky to measure. About $150- 250. Oh yeah, add the correct tiller bar.

grab the end of the steering rod thats diconected with plier and twist it back and forth and try to turn the steering wheel it should loosen up. do the motor turn easy whae its not connected to the rod? if so the trouble is the stering cable do what l said if the motors tigh grease it and move it back and forth alot while you are pumping grease into the shaft
