We just bought 2 used waverunners and l wanted to get them service and l heard of the 10 hour service but l am not sure what that is will some one explain please!

l am not sure what ur talking about exactly by ''10 hour service but typical shop rate for most US regular marine service is $65 (cheap) to around $85 an hour (mainstream).

This also might mean the first 10 hours of use, they do a maintenance service check. Personally this is a waste of time in my experienced view.

The periods to get ur boat/PWC serviced is just right before the start of the boating/watersports season, & right after the boating/watersports season.

l doubt ''10 hour service'' would be anything regarding break in period because that is what happens when u break in a new or rebuilt engine.

l must ask, did u test drive them carefully, inspect everything, & take it to a PWC service shop to have it checked out?

The buyer has the legal responsibility to ensure the quality of the boat/PWC before purchasing it. So that means u gotta fork up some ''insurance'' money to find out if this is a good choice or a hidden ''lemon''

Big mistake if u do not do this after the test drive, because there could be a problem u can not see that a certified marine mechanic can see by testing for problems.

Engine compression is one of the very hidden & sometimes easily disguisable problems until a few months or a year goes by & the engine gives out. Make sure this gets checked out.

Can also be the service after the first 10 hours of use when new.
The first 10 hrs are the ''Brake-in'' period for the engine and drive components (like with a new car).
Change oil, filters, plugs, check settings, adjust the cables and a check for excesive wear.

To me this means they want to service them after 10hrs. on the water.

If that is true, there is no need. 10 hrs. is just nothing in terms of a PWC that is used and most likely already broken in. Service intervals should be much further apart.

Please let me know if it means something else.
