runs great first 5 min. then looses power and boggs down, plugs are wet but not black and fouled could this be a symptom of coil packs, l have recently added new fuel lines and new fuel and line from tank to motor?

First make sure that the vent screw is open on the gas tank, if it has a portable tank. Next, pump the gas line primer bulb when it bogs to see if the rpms increase. If it does, it is probably the fuel pump. If not, the problem is electrical.

im only 16 so u can take my answer how u want ..but my dad runs a boat shop & u said ur boat was priety much falling on its face wqhen wide open well theres many things u can do like take out the plugs to one coil pack & wirl the engine over to see if they r getting spark & if theyre not u need a new coul pack on that side then do the same on the other also if the spark is weak l would definetly change them juss to save u sum hassle in the long run another thing u could do is just go by a cheap can of carb cleaner & trake the carb completely off but be very careful because of the jets & stuff so u dont loose them & take it apart & spray carb cleaner all in it really good & put it back together other than that unless it has a power pack[brain] l would check it out or have it checked out

Rule out fuel delivery as described above.

Then, check for spark while it is acting up.

First narrow it down to a specific cylinder(s): engine idling, pull then replace the spark plug wires, one at a time. Give the engine a second or two to respond. If RPMs do not drop noticeably, that cylinder is not making power.

shut the engine off & pull that plug, reattach it to the boot, hold it against the engine block & look for sharp blue spark while somebody turns the engine over with the key. Use a plastic or insulated tool to avoid electricution.

If u find a bad cylinder, swap the coil with a cylinder that has good spark. Do not even have to take the coils off the engine, just rearrange the orange wires.

Problem follows the coil, replace it.

Problem stays with the cylinder, u will need to troubleshoot the powerpack & timer base. Need help just ask.

That motor runs best with champion QL77JC4 - not a personal brand preference - just experience with this model. Gap should be .030.

Hi--You may have a carb. problem. You need to remove it and buy a rebuilding kit for $45.00 and get 3 cans of carb. cleaner. and spray all the intake and the two or one jet holes. Check the needle and seat. l would try to buy a new needle and seat if you can.
Did you ever rebuild a carb.??
Sounds like the carb. is loading up. You may just need to adjust the floats. l DONOT think this is the power packs.

That motor is 30 years old. Dont waste alot of time and money, think about an upgrade.
